Description

Frederic Wenz Born in Reims on August 2, 1865 Died in La Ferté-sous-Jouarre on March 9, 1940

Second in a family of 5 children, he was a boarder at the Lycée Saint Louis in Paris from 1876 to 1885, when he enrolled as a student at the Cormon workshop.

There he met 20-year-old Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.

Frederic Wentz will become his friend and model.

The landscape represented in our painting is certainly located in the region of the Côte de Reims.

The young woman in the foreground is none other than "Jeanne Wenz" a character whose identity has not yet been defined, niece of Frederic, sister of Louise his future wife ...

Jeanne will be one of Lautrec's models for at least 10 portais.
